Introduction

If there is one thing most computers have in common, it is the fact that there is some kind of lighting install. Some case manufacturers are now on the band wagon and have begun shipping case with some form of lighting already included. Some have cathodes on the front panel or even LED's. Power supply manufacturers have begun using fans with LED's in their power supply as well. Lighting is obviously a trend that is here to say.

Today we are going to do a PC lighting accessories round up, sponsored by the good people at Maxtop. They sent us two different types of cathodes. The regular, single colored cathodes and the tri color cathodes with a sound activated module.

So here is what we got:
2 - Single CCFL's (1 - Green | 1 - Blue)
1 - Dual Multi-Color CCFL w/ Sound Activated Module (Red/Blue/Green)

General Observations
There are a few differences between each set's of cathodes. Each cathode is placed in an acrylic housing for protection, the housing differs slightly. The single colored cathodes housing is quite slim, and clear. The housing on the multi-colored ones are thicker than the other ones, and have straight white lines running the length of the housing. Also on the multi colored ones there is a piece of plastic which is about 5/6 the length of the cathode, wrapped around it.

The inverter on the single colored cathode is wired directly to the cathode and can only work for one cathode. The multi-colored cathode's inverter is a dual inverter which means that 2 cathodes can be connected to it at the same time.

The multi colored cathode has a sound activated module connected to it, which is a very nice feature. It also has the ability to connect another inverter to it, so you can say it is a Dual Inverter Sound Activated Module.
