Introduction
What's about 9 3/4" x 8 1/4" , about 6.6mm thick, hard, flat, black, and can most likely be used as a deadly weapon? Hmmmmmmm........... Give up?
Well it's called an IceMat. If you have never heard about an IceMat, what it is basically is a mouse pad, with a, shall I say, 'hard twist'.

Why a hard twist you may ask. Well I say that because unlike other mouse pads, this one is completely made of glass. Yes glass! That is why I also said that it can most likely be used as a deadly weapon. :)

Anyway, the good people at IceMat agreed to send us an evaluation unit. Here's what we got:
1 - IceMat "Mouse Pad"
1 - Strip "IceMat Pad Surfer"
1 - Pad Surfer Instruction Guide

IceMat says that "The surface of the IceMat has been developed and tested by computer gamers, and a special developed treatment of the surface gives the user an experience of great accuracy and precision, due to the fact that the surface gives an excellent grip on the mouse ball."

The IceMat features six (6) polyurethane feet on its underside. These secure the Icemat in place, and prevent it from any shifting or sliding. And trust me, it takes alot of force to push the IceMat without lifting it, those feet really do their job.

Just one of the sic polyurethane feet.

As I said above the IceMat comes with a strip of Pad Surfers, by applying them to the mouse feet, they reduce the amount of friction between your mouse and the IceMat, which will in turn allow the mouse to glide with more accuracy. What is also nice about the Pad Surfers is that they can work with any mouse pad, desktop, or whatever you put your mouse on.

Applying them is not difficult at all either, just cut them to size, peel off the backing from the adhesive side and apply them on the mouse's feet and that's it.

<<Without Pad Surfers | With Pad Surfers>>>>

The mouse glides nicely on the Icemat without the Pad Surfers, but it's even smoother with them on.

The black IceMat is said to have been tested and approved to work with the following optical mice:

Microsoft:
-Wireless Intellimouse® Explorer
-Intellimouse® Explorer 3.0
-Optical Mouse Blue
-Optical Mouse Blue, wireless

Logitech:
-MX 300
-MX 500
-MX 700

Conclusion
This mouse pad is very unique, I am not even too sure if I should refer to it as a mouse pad, or by what it is called, and IceMat. Either way, its great! The surface is excellent for mousing, the mouse ball connects well with the surface, and with the added Pad Surfers it's even better.

What's great is the fact that IceMat also work well with optical mice, unfortunately at the time of this review, I did not have an optical mouse to test with this mouse pad, but look for an update.

Overall I think this is an excellent mouse pad, the only thing I am not too keen on is the fact that it is made of glass, and as such is susceptible to being broken if not cared for properly, other than that it's very nice, and deserves it's rating.
