Introduction
Fan controllers seem to be all the rage. They come in all different
types, shapes, sizes, and most importantly, cost. Today we will
be looking at one of the smallest controllers I have seen. It's
the VLSystem MPP Plus (Multi Power Port).

Well this is not 100% a fan controller,
in the sense that it cannot change the speed of the fan to your
liking at any time. It is like a cross between a fan controller
and (as the name suggests) a multi power port.
Here's what we got:
|
1 - Multi Power Port
2 - 3 Pin Extension Cords (Red/Yellow/Blk)
6 - 2 Pin LED Cords (Green &
White)
1 - User Manual (Not Pictured)
|
|
What does it do? The MPP Plus receives power
via a Molex connector and it then distributes power through
the following:
|
4 - 5V - 3 Pin Connectors
4 - 12V - 3 Pin Connectors
6 - 3.3V - 2 Pin Connectors (for LED's)

Installation
I suggest before beginning installation that you power down
the PC. Safety first!
Installation of this unit is very simple. All that has to be
done is; remove the screws from any two PCI cards that are one
above the other, place the unit over the holes so that they
line up and secure the screw through the MPP, and that's it!
Now connect any spare molex connector to the
MPP, then your fans, LED's and whatever else, and that's it!
The nice thing about this unit, it's not just for fans, and
LED's. It can be used with other lighting, such as CCFL's, as
it has the 12V output power to accommodate them.
For those of you who are all about making your
case look neat and tidy this item is great. For one thing it
does not have to be mounted by the PCI cards. It has 4 foam
feet on it that allows it to be mounted anywhere on the case,
and not short out the PSU. You would probably just have to use
some double sided tape or some Velcro, and then you can hide
it just about anywhere and run your wires to it, without them
being seen.

After I connected everything,
I booted up my system, and right away everything worked as
it should. Here are some pictures I took with it installed
by my PCI cards.

Unfortunately at the time of this review, I
had no LED's to use. So here are a few shots from VLSystems
website.

Conclusion
Over all this is a very nice unit. It offers three different
voltages for you to connect your LED's, Fan's, CCFL's, and whatever
else you have that uses a 3 pin connector. It comes in very
useful and is great if you are trying to hide all that wiring.
It can be placed on the motherboard tray, and hid behind the
CD-Rom and Hard Drive trays.
The User Manual gives you a basic overview of
what the MPP Plus does and can do. The translation is a bit
rough, but you'll get the idea.
This is a great unit, and thats why I give it:
